Oranges

Mum told me a story once about how a whole mob of kids, including some of the Truscott kids and mum, went down to a neighbours house one night to collect a few oranges from their oranges trees to eat. Unfortunately while some of the kids were up in the tree handing them down to the others below, the neighbour who they thought was asleep came out with a torch to check out what was going on. Well, mum said she didn't know her friends and brothers and sisters could all run so fast. They all took off and mum was panicking because as she jumped the fence her shorts got stuck on the wire. The neighbour was getting closer to her and with all her might she tugged at those shorts and ripped a hole straight out of them and managed to get away.
Well, they ate the oranges that they collected on the way home and all was good...or so they thought.
The next morning they all awoke to Bluey ranting and raving and I know he called out to my Aunty, "Lilian Truscott, get out here now."
The kids all ran out to see what the commotion was and discovered that they had left a nice trail of orange peels leading right to their front door. Needless to say they spent the next hour or so picking them all up. Mum never mentioned that the neighbour found out who stole those oranges but I bet he had his suspicions.
